The Collection (2012) - Movie Review

The makers of ‘The Collector’ and ‘Saw’ now present ‘The Collection’ which is a pure horror lovers’ movie. It is a sequel of the two mentioned movies and good for those who are brave enough to watch curdling and cruel mindless murders. The story portrays murder and tormenting maximum people in the most cruel, graphic and meaninglessly brutal means.

‘The Collection’ shows a guy who wears a large black-leather-mask. He loves to torture and kill people. He factually finds his victims and throws them in a red trunk once collected. Then brings them home, cut them into pieces and stitches them back together. He does not stop here as he then drains them into drugs, safe them in cages, follows them and frequently gets the results balanced in big fish tanks.

"The Collection" has a same setup and shows trap house but it is more exciting as most actions are sited in the hiding place of the collector that produces more horror. The movie displays a town from where lots of people have gone lost. Still there some crazy children who do not let fear stop them getting into fun.  Elena (played by Emma Fitzpatrick) is one of them. She is the daughter of a rich man named Mr. Peter (played by Christopher McDonald). Emma jams up with her buddies for a rave at an old deserted lodge situated in the private part of the town.  This is the Collector's hideaway, a murder route. The Collector turns it deserted lodge into one gigantic murder machine, where he catches the victims and kills them using a variety of torture instruments.

Elena by chance comes across the box where Arkin (played by Josh Stewart) was being kept in by The Collector. Arkin hardly runs away from his life, however is almost immediately trapped by Lucello (played by Lee Tergeson) and his companions who are worker under Elena's dad. Lucello gets a certain period of time before Elena dies whereas Arkin is the only one who is aware of the way to save her.

Surely everything does not work to support "The Collection". There are some elements from its script that are brought in with no genuine payoff or even serious influence on following plot points. Moreover, 'shock value' specimens available in the collector's resort are childish in regard of distraction.

There is a foolish effort to produce horror in ‘The Collection’ as the sound of the movie is static in the beginning that comes with blurry images of a horrible killing. Besides, there are some moments in the scene where the legs and upper torso were shown out of sync by means of the camera angle that creates perplexity for audiences.

To sum up, "The Collection" is foolish and contradictory film. Watch if you are fond of slasher porn as this is the only element of enjoyment in the whole movie.
