Rush Review (2012)
As mentioned earlier, it is an ordinary male oriented film that depicts Emran Hashmi as a lead role.
He is playing ‘Samar’ in the movie who is an ambitious individual and works as a senior investigative journalist at news channel ‘Pulse 365’. He yearns to see himself at the sky of popularity. His channel fires him because of an unwanted expose by him. Later, Neha Dhupia who is playing Lisa Kapoor in ‘Rush’ approaches him for a job of Editor In Chief at a competitor channel ‘Crime 24’. Samar is pulled towards an idealistically beneficial offer of 1.5 crore yearly. Similar to the idealistic offer, the workings of the news channel appear weird. Aditya Panscholi plays the role of Crime 24’s owner Roger Khanna, who wants to get the highest TRP ratings. He has a deploy system that taps the conversation of the Indian Police that help him report every crime before anybody else. As Samar spends his days working in the channel he realizes that the channel is indeed on the wrong route to get popularity and become number one. ‘Rush’ is all about Samar's hunger for getting the sky of fame in the world of investigative journalism and its outcomes in his life.
Like Ram Gopal Varma's Rann or Madhur Bhandarkar's Page 3 or even Aamir Khan's Peepli Live, ‘Rush’ sees to the outlook of the media industry. The director has tried to portray how ethically dishonest persons in media reach the rivalry and keep their TRPs. However the film does not justify with its intensive subject and seems unoriginal.
‘Rush’ has many flaws especially when it comes to Emraan Hashmi’s look. He could look better than he looks like in the movie. He is a great actor and does his job best but with ‘Rush’ he shows a poor performance. He seems disinterested in the most parts of the movie. The dialogues do not go with the script; moreover there are many moments where Neha Dhupia and Aditiya Panscholi’s accent while delivering dialogues produce a funny environment. Sagarika Ghatge and Neha Dhupia are show pieces in the movie. Aditya Panscholi’s performance as the cruel media tycoon despairs his fans.
Music plays a vital role in bollywood movies and Pritam is one of its renowned music composers. Unfortunately, his composition does not create any magic this time. ‘Chup Chup Ke’ is the only song of the movie that attracts listeners whereas others are ordinary. It seems that delays and mishaps during the making of Rush, have badly effected the movie in every aspect.
In general, ‘Rush’ is not a movie that could grab its viewers to keep sitting in front of the screen until it ends. Mostly audiences found it a boring movie and preferred leaving the cinema instead watching it completely.
