Makkhi (2012) - Movie Review

‘Eega’ was a Telugu movie that took imaginative and creative movies to a new height and inspired its viewers.  It was a super success project that leads its filmmaker to release it in Hindi. ‘Makkhi’ is a Hindi version of ‘Eega’ that has same actors and except for a few changed names; there is nothing new in the movie.  Let’s find out how this Hindi version inspires viewers of Hindi cinema.
Makkhi is a simple story that depicts a Jaani (played by Nani) love for Bindu (played by Samantha) who is the organizer of an educational but non-profitable organization. She is very much fond of micro art.
Nani keeps convincing her for the reality of his love for years but fails. Bindu never replies him for anything. A time comes when she too starts loving him. She realizes about her feeling when a multi-millionaire Sudeep (played by Sudeep heads over heels in love with Bindu. Sundeep does not get any response from Bindu. One day he comes to know that Bindu loves Jaani. Sundeep gets aggressive and kills Jaani.  The story of Makkhi takes an interesting twist as Jaani reborn as a fly.  His ultimate purpose is to take revenge from Sundeep for separating him from his beloved. The rest part of Makkhi circles around this unique story and viewers cannot stop them from watching it completely.

Filmmaker SS Rajamouli has successfully visualized an interesting twist to a very ordinary love-revenge-reincarnation story. He has gained tremendous success with his movies and with Makkhi, he confidently makes the fly take revenge which forms a fascinating excitement. He superbly presented the possibilities with which a fly can attack a human. A fly’s behavior with which it in fact goes about doing all, holds viewers’ attention.

As mentioned earlier, ‘Eega’s Hindi version has nothing new except for a few changed names such as Nani’s name is changed to Jaani.  Another novelty is the 5 minutes’ appearance of Ajay Devgan and Kajol.

’Makkhi’ has a great graphic work and many effects that make the movie perfect. It has a splendid background score that is a plus point of the movie.

Nani has played an outstanding job instead having a small role in Makkhi. Samantha who plays Bindu is excellent and looks stunning. Her performance is good at acting end. Sundeep is the most important person who deserves the most praises for his brilliant performance. How he reacts and acts with a fly on its attack and different behaviors is simply splendid.

Overall, it won’t be wrong to state that ‘Makkhi’ has some flaws but if one consider the broader picture it will surely let you neglect the minor errors. Everybody should watch this wonderful creation.
